For this reason, we can offer an extended manufacturer's warranty on all FOCUS carbon frames, forks, e-bike frames and s-pedelec aluminium frames.

What are warranty, warranty for defects and wear parts?
What does warranty mean?
The guarantee is a voluntary commitment by the guarantor (manufacturer) for its product. It should not be confused with the statutory warranty for defects. Since the guarantee is voluntary, the manufacturer has freedom of design. This means that it can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. In the following sections, you will find our warranty conditions.
What does warranty for defects mean?
The legal definition of a material defect specifies when and under what circumstances a defect in the purchased item exists and warranty claims can be asserted. A material defect is usually so serious that the product cannot be used. As a result, a complaint is made directly to the seller.
German warranty law regulates the type of claims you have as a buyer against the dealer. In principle, there is always a right to subsequent fulfilment, which means that the dealer must have the opportunity to remedy the defect. To this end, the buyer is obliged to make the purchased item available to the seller/manufacturer for the purpose of subsequent performance (for example, repair).
In principle, you as the buyer have a warranty claim of 24 months from the handover of the purchased item. In the first 12 months, the burden of proof of a material defect lies with the manufacturer/dealer. This means that he or she must prove that the product was in perfect condition on the day of sale. After the first 12 months, you as the customer must prove that the defect already existed at the time of purchase. In addition, you must provide a comprehensible reason why you waited so long to make a complaint.
What are wear parts?
A special warranty position arises in the case of wear parts. The statutory warranty does not correspond to a durability guarantee! If it is a matter of normal wear and tear, the seller has no warranty obligations in this respect.
This is because wearing parts are not covered by the warranty if they are impaired by use. Normal wear and tear is characterised by the fact that a part becomes defective, but the defect is typical for the age and mileage of the item.
In particular, the following parts are considered to be wearing parts:
Batteries, brake discs, brake pads, bushings, seals and bearings in chassis parts (fork, damper), rims (for rim brakes), grips, bottom brackets, chains, chainrings, bearing sets for full-suspension frames, hub bearings, tyres, sprockets, headsets, cables, saddles, dropper posts and some more.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE WARRANTY OF CARBON FRAMES- AND FORKS
Since the model year 2013 FOCUS offers a comprehensive guarantee program for all FOCUS carbon frames and forks.
Please note the following points in the warranty terms and conditions:
Should processing or material faults appear on your carbon frame, or corresponding carbon fork if you have a racing bike, within the 6-year warranty period, please contact your specialist FOCUS dealer. The warranty only extends to the original (first) owner and is not transferable. If the bike has been used for hire, the warranty does not apply.
Warranty claims are handled by the specialist FOCUS dealer. Your dealer provides and fits your new frame or fork.
The warranty period is not extended in the case of a repair or replacement.
For paintwork of FOCUS carbon frames the 2-year warranty applies. Any damage to the paint finish which occurs after your specialist dealer has delivered your bike is not covered by the terms of the warranty.
If your model is no longer included in our product portfolio within the 6-year warranty period, you will receive a suitable replacement model from the existing product range (colour and finish may differ from the original model).
Please indicate the serial number as well. It can be found on the underside of the bottom bracket. You will also find a silver quality sticker in the bottom bracket area of all models, with two nine-digit number sequences. The top number sequence is preceded by the letters „sn“. This is the factory order number (serial number). The second number sequence is preceded by the letters „pn“. This is the article number, which starts with 61 or 62. The model names are attached to the frame as décors.
To activate your 6-year frame warranty, you must register your model, complete with all the required details, here online within 8 weeks of the date of purchase. You will then receive a confirmation email which you must retain.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE WARRANTY OF E-BIKES AND S-PEDELEC ALUMINIUM FRAMES
We offer a 10-year extension to our comprehensive warranty programme for frames of e-bike and s-pedelec aluminium models.
In the event of processing or material faults, which lead to cracking or breakage, appearing on the frame within the 10-year warranty period, please contact your authorized dealer. The warranty only extends to the original (first) owner and is not transferable. If the bike has been used for hire, the warranty does not apply.
Warranty claims can only be made via your specialist dealer. Your specialist dealer will supply you with a new frame, and will install it for you.
The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear or aging. Similarly excluded are damage or defects in the paintwork of e-bike frames. Any paintwork damage, which occurs after your specialist dealer has delivered your bike, is not covered by the terms of the warranty or liability for material defects. If the bike has been used for hire, the warranty does not apply.
The prescribed regular servicing must have been carried out by an authorized dealer and recorded in the service history log.
If your model is no longer included in our product portfolio within the ten-year warranty period, you will receive a suitable replacement model from the existing product range (color and finish may differ from the original model).

REMARKS
Statutory claims made against the seller for any material defects in relation to implied warranties of satisfactory quality or fitness for purpose are not affected by this guarantee. This means: should your bike have a fault which was already present at the time of risk transfer (risk transfer takes place when the buyer takes delivery of the bike once the purchase is completed) which renders the bike of unsatisfactory quality or unfit for purpose, the buyer can claim for this fault against the seller within two years of this date.
We would like you to note that in this context, as with the guarantee, only initial defects already present, whether visible or hidden, at the time of risk transfer constitute material defects, and not normal wear and tear.
