Focus Bikes

FOCUS: After you were on the way for fourteens days on your new FOCUS, can you make yourself a picture of the production at FOCUS. Which impressions did you take with you?

Markus Schulte-Lünzum: At first I was totally surprised by the size of the production. That so many bikes are produced in Cloppenburg and especially how much work is done by hand on the bikes that I did not think that was possible. Also it is totally fascinating to see how much material is moved here and how many parts. I would like to take with me. (Laughing)

FOCUS: A motto from FOCUS is “from pros for pros”. In this sense we work closely together with our athletes. Could you image for yourself to work on the further development of the material?

MSL: Certainly super possibilities could arise. Especially in the details one sees whether a bike is really good. With FOCUS, for example, I noticed that the top tube is so drawn that the handlebar cannot collide with it during a fall. That is, of course, no essentially necessary, but however, spares my beautiful bike. I think that both sides could profit from a cooperation.

FOCUS: A propo bike. How do you like your new team bike – the FOCUS Raven Extreme?

MSL: I unfortunately have had it only since two weeks and have only ridden 300 km with it. However I am totally enthusiastic. That I really celebrated. I worked on my bike a whole Saturday morning in the garage with coffee and a radiant heater. The best thing was that every thing fitted perfectly. Earlier I occasionally cheated a little bit. That is however not all necessary: everything is simple coordinated to each other up to the smallest detail.
