The IZALCO MAX is for those who don't compromise on speed in any situation. It is the perfect composition of aerodynamics, stiffness and low weight to give you much more out of every ride – finished off with style. The unique truncated NACA-shaped tubes guide the airflow along their surface, reducing drag to a minimum while saving weight. The IZALCO MAX comes with an aero seat post as well as our aerodynamic C.I.S. stem with internal cable routing and bike computer mount. The stiffness of the bottom bracket and the forks' lateral stiffness are optimised. Together with a speed-oriented geometry for easier cornering, especially when riding fast, the IZALCO MAX applies your power directly to the road. It is available in seven sizes. In combination with the stem, which is available in six lengths from 70 to 120 mm, it really does have all the sizes for each and every one of you. To ensure the longest lifetime of the high-quality sealed bearings, all sealed industry bearings got an additional sealing on top. The IZALCO MAX is equipped with 28 mm tyres, which enhances comfort and puncture protection, especially on poor surfaces. If that's not enough, it even offers tyre clearance of up to 30 mm. The IZALCO MAX is your road bike for all ambitions.
We asked ourselves: What is the very essence of a road bike? Speed! Is that what the IZALCO MAX stands for? Absolutely yes! You being fast on an IZALCO MAX is what we are aiming for. Therefore everything about the IZALCO MAX is fast – uncompromisingly fast.
Where marginal gains count, we have made our fastest road bike ever! It is the perfect composition of aerodynamics, stiffness and weight for those who don't compromise on speed in any situation. With the IZALCO MAX, there are no slow rides. It is truly the essence of pace.
Our engineers extensively played the crucial gains game to reach the next level of aero performance. The outcomes are highly aerodynamic, refined NACA shapes.
And there is more: a standard water bottle on the down tube is almost completely hidden from the wind with a minimal effect of only 0.3 W. Because unfortunately we all don’t have personal domestiques and need to carry water ourselves.
By saving 6.6 watts at 45 km/h, it is 1 min 47 seconds faster over a distance of 45 km compared to its predecessor.
When stiffness meets comfort
Striking the perfect balance between stiffness and comfort is the pinnacle of frame design. A pinnacle we climbed particularly for this IZALCO MAX.
With a stiff bottom bracket and also a fork that is optimised for lateral stiffness, you get that extra power on the road.
We all know that confidence makes you ride faster. The IZALCO MAX is known for its great fit and playful character.
So, we protected those characteristics to carefully refine the geometry for easier cornering, especially at high speeds. This will boost your confidence and therefore how fast you want to push it.
Our C.I.S. road stem hides the cables below the stem. This provides a clean look and aerodynamic advantages. It also comes with an integrated bike computer mount for both Wahoo and Garmin.
You can even attach a light or action camera to the mount should you need it. To keep it simple to maintain you can easily dismount the handlebar stem unit to safely pack your IZALCO MAX in a bike case.
7 sizes for a perfect fit
The IZALCO MAX is available in seven sizes. In combination with the stem, which we offer in six lengths from 70 to 120 mm, it really does have all the sizes for each and every one of you.
You can effortlessly switch to a shorter or longer version of the stem to dial in your fit – as well as adding and removing stem spacers without having to open any brake lines. All this enhances the customisability of the IZALCO MAX and how you can tailor it to your exact needs.
The perfect frame for any situation
Frame weight is the result of many factors: aerodynamics, stiffness, layup and carbon fibres to just name a few. Change one of them, and the weight will most likely change – for better or worse. What does this mean? The IZALCO Max is not a road bike just for the Cols of this world.
Just as it is not a hyper aerodynamic time trial bike. It is as light as possible while achieving our high goals in terms of aerodynamics, stiffness and carbon fibre quality. This results in a frame weight of 865 g for the 9. series and 1050 g for the 8. series each for frame size M with an additional 400 g for the fork.
The bike computer mount bracket will be mounted through the hole in the faceplate of the stem. Onto that bracket you can fit either the Garmin or Wahoo computer mount. You can also adjust it to your preferred angle.
Can I also use electronic shifting on the 8. series? Can I also use the integrated stem on models of the 8. series that are older than 2021?
Both, 8. and 9. series can be used with electronic and mechanical shifting.
How do I change the stem or stem length?
You can order a different stem length via your dealer. During the IZALCO MAX development process, it was key to make the stem easily exchangeble without removing or cutting any cables. But you should consider the following: Switching to a longer stem might require longer cables. Make sure the cables are long enough. Switching to a shorter stem might lead to long cables which could be shortened for a cleaner look. Here are all stem lengths with their order number:
AM120222009 C.I.S. road stem 70 mm
AM120222010 C.I.S. road stem 80 mm
AM120222011 C.I.S. road stem 90 mm
AM120222012 C.I.S. road stem 100 mm
AM120222013 C.I.S. road stem 110 mm
AM120222014 C.I.S. road stem 120 mm
I want to ride a lower front. I want to ride with less spacers. Is it possible?
The IZALCO MAX stem gives you the freedom to find your perfect riding position. Simply remove one of the split spacers underneath the stem and add a round spacer with the same height on top. If you have found your perfect riding position, remove the round spacers on top and cut the steerer for a clean look. If you need help, you can always ask your local dealer.
What material are the stems made of?
The 8. series and 9. series share an aluminium stem.
Can I mount a bike computer or an action cam on the stem?
Every IZALCO MAX equipped with an integrated, variable bike computer mount and a GoPro mount that can be attached to the bike computer mount.
To which bike classification does the IZALCO MAX apply?
The IZALCO MAX applies to condition 6: road bikes. It is to be used in competition or otherwise at high speed in excess of 50 km/h such as when descending or sprinting.
Is the IZALCO MAX UCI rule conform?
The IZALCO MAX is compliant with the current UCI rules and comes with the corresponding sticker.
What is the difference between the forks of the 8. series and the 9. series?
There is no difference. The forks of both series are the same.
Can I use the IZALCO MAX on a smart trainer?
Yes, the 9. and 8. series models of the IZALCO MAX are approved. They are allowed on direct drive trainers.
Can I attach a bike trailer?
The IZALCO MAX is not tested and not approved to use with a bike trailer.
Dimensions / Standards
I need more details on dimensions (bottom bracket, headset, etc.)
The bike's constructive rotor size is 160 mm in the front and 140 mm in the back. But starting at size M, the bike comes with 160/160 mm rotors
Which groupsets do fit? With what dimensions?
All road groupsets will fit the bikes, for both 8. series and 9. series.
Which is the maximum tire width?
For the frame, 30 mm tires will fit. But it also depends on the tire manufacturer and the rim width. In general, the tire is safe to ride when there is a 4 mm clearance between tire and frame as well as between tire and fork.
Which wheelsize should I take?
The IZALCO MAX is designed for 700c road tire standard.
What is the maximum weight?
The maximum system weight for carbon bikes is 110 kg. It includes rider, bike and all equipment.
Can I change between 1by and 2by shifting? What is 1by and 2by?
It means that the bike is either equipped with two or only one chainring in the front. So 1by would refer to one chainring in the front and 2by to two chainrings. Our IZALCO MAX is designed for a 2by setup, so the front derailleur hanger is not removable. Nevertheless, 1by is possible.
Can I add fenders, kickstand, rack?
As the IZALCO MAX is our bike for pushing speed limits, there are no mounting options.
