Photo impressions of our May sportspersons of the month

Team MIG stands for honest and exciting mountain bike sport. Whether it’s the World Cup, the Bundesliga, national or international championships: the young sportspersons in the FOCUS-sponsored teams pursue their goals with ambition and professionalism. They are accompanied on the way by a dedicated team and a photographer, who captures their experiences and proves once more: a picture is worth 1000 words.

See for yourselves!

The season to date and highlights in pictures from Team MIG.

Photo 1: 19 February 2012: Shlomi Haimy started amongst a world-class field in Cyprus.
Photo 2: In the Cyprus Sunshine Cup, the high starting tempo took its toll on the young Israeli.
Photo 3: But in the end he was pleased with a good race as well as 33rd place...
Photo 4: ...and we were happy with the first race photographs of the year.
Photo 5: 17-18 March World Cup opener in Pietermaritzburg: 3rd place and the first podium for Markus Schulte-Lünzum.
Photo 6: First sighting after a one year break: Julie Krasniak finished in 30th place after starting on the last row in the elite ladies race.
Photo 7: The ladies U23 race started in a downpour, which brought difficult conditions and large intervals between racers. Barbara Benko, marked with mud, finished in 4th place.
Photo 8: 13 -15 April World Cup classic in Houffalize, Belgium
Photo 9: On 21 and 22 April, the Bundesliga race in Münsingen became a messy affair. Shlomi Haimy was unable to qualify for the sprint final. However his colleagues Markus, Wenzel and Sabrina came 4th, 6th and 6th respectively to ensure a good points haul.
Photo 10: Markus Schulte-Lünzum surprised the elite. Although still eligible for the U23 race, he is competing in the men’s Bundesliga this season and with a 4th place finish, he achieved a perfectly respectable result.
Photo 11: World Cup in Nove Mesto from 11 to 13 May. Bad luck for Barbara Benko: Following a good start, she stayed at the head of the field for a long while. But a fall put her much further back. Lap by lap, Barbara fought her way back towards the front and by finishing 15th, she at least took a few important world ranking points.
Photo 12: Being fifth to cross the line in the U23 race brought restrained joy for Markus Schulte-Lünzum. After a good performance in the elite race the previous week, he had set his standard very high.
Photo 13: Shlomi Haimy delivered a great picture during his elite men’s race. But the result – one place from gaining some world ranking points, was unfortunately not quite as successful.
