Procycling (03/2014) subjects the Izalco MAX 0.0 to an individual test
The German issue of Procycling took a closer look at the flagship of FOCUS's road bikes and was impressed, especially by the weight of the Izalco MAX 0.0. "It is hard to believe that the new FOCUS top-of-the-range model weighs a mere 3,600 grams without wheels and pedals. Even the road-ready bike weighs in at well under six kilos […]."
But it was not only the weight which impressed the testers. Its "great agility", thanks to the sporty geometry with steep stem angle and low fork rake, also went down well. "No other bike is as quick off the mark." Moreover, the test results in the German magazines TOUR and RoadBIKE show that low weight does not necessarily mean compromising on rigidity. Procycling's test riders also noticed this in their test ride. "The frame withstands full-force acceleration, and the fork handles quick curves as well as it does sudden braking."
Nor could the testers fault FOCUS's selection of components, with the 1820 gram DT Swiss Dicut wheelset incl. Schwalbe tubed tyre and the 11-26 SRAM Red cassette in particular finding favour.
One thing is clear: the Izalco MAX 0.0 is a bike, "[…] made not for taking it easy, but for taking it to the max."
