Markus wins the race in Neustadt ahead of Kurschat and Milatz!
This is Markus' report of the race:
"The Deutschlandcup in Neustadt this weekend was the last race ahed of the world championships for me. This was probably the best cast field in the history of the Deutschlandcup. Besides the whole podium of the DM there were more strong riders at the start line. The 3 km long track ran almost exclusively on singletrack, was very selective and with 110 hm per round very demanding.
I catched a good start and was able to get to the top of the race in a short downhill of the first lap. When I looked back at the first climb, I had a gap to the chasers and tried to push harder. I continuously increased my lead to the chasers so that I could ride the last lap safely and win the race in front of the current German champion Moritz Milatz, who showed a fulminant comeback to the front after a chainbreak at the start. Wolfram Kurschat finished in 3rd place. I am very happy about this last successful test before the World championships. Now I can go with a very good feeling to South Africa!"
