From now on, the Izalco and Izalco Chrono will no longer be the only FOCUS bikes in action on the professional circuit. Team Acqua & Sapone will now also use the FOCUS Cayo Evo, which has been newly presented for 2012. Danilo Di Luca used the bike for the first time in the Milan–San Remo race.

All change at Team Acqua & Sapone! The new year has seen the team change to FOCUS bikes and tackle its first races on the FOCUS Izalco. Since the start of the 2012 season, the Izalco Chrono has ensured perfect aerodynamics for the Italian team in time trials. And for their materials partner FOCUS, the wheels of innovation just keep on turning. In September 2011, their engineers presented the newly developed FOCUS Cayo Evo at the most important trade shows of the year.

Cayo Evo in team colours

Since professionals are always looking for the best and most up-to-date materials, it wasn’t long before the question was on the Acqua & Sapone riders’ lips: “When will we get the new frame?” Team Liaison Manager Martin Böckelmann pulled out all the stops to have the Cayo Evo ready in team colours for the spring races. The first frames reached the mechanics exactly one week before the start of the longest one-day race of the year, namely the Milan–San Remo. Only a few days later, Danilo Di Luca was sitting on the bike for the first time. His verdict: “Two thumbs up!”
