The year kicks off with the top German cycling event: the Cyclo-cross World Championships.

This coming weekend the world’ s best Cyclo-cross athletes will compete for the title of champion in the sporting city of St. Wendel. Among them a total of eight FOCUS cyclists from five different countries. FOCUS is confident that junior athlete Yannick Eckmann has a real chance of scooping a medal. But will this dream come true? At least we won’t have to wait long to find out – he’s scheduled to start on Saturday (29th January) at 11 a.m..

Three hours later – at 2 p.m. – it will be the turn of the men’s U23. FOCUS has entered three athletes in the race. Fabian Danner (Team FOCUS MIG) will compete for Germany, Alexander Gehbauer for Austria, and Zach McDonald (Team Rapha FOCUS) for the United States.

Then on Sunday, 30th January 2011, all eyes will be on the women. Swiss athlete Jasmin Achermann and Sabrina Schweizer (Team FOCUS MIG) are both due to start at 11 a.m.. The latter – assuming she has sufficiently recovered from her race – will be cheering on one particular athlete during the men’s Elite final. Fellow MIG Team member Rene Birkenfeld and the Japanese competitor Atsushi Maruyama will both be competing on FOCUS bikes.

FOCUS wishes each and every athlete all the best and is looking forward to a great sporting event!
