FOCUS Izalco Team Replica is 2011 “Bike of the Year”
A US magazine has presented the German brand with the Editors’ Choice Award for the second time in succession.
For the second time in a row, the FOCUS Izalco has received one of the industry’s most important awards on the US market: the Bicycling Magazine Editors’ Choice Award. The Team Replica model version impressed the jurors in the hard-fought “Best Enthusiast Road Bike” category, leaving big-named rivals far behind. Scott Rittschof, CEO of Focus Bicycles USA, who accepted the award at the Sea Otter Classic cycling event in Monterey (USA) was clearly delighted: “To receive the Editors’ Choice Award is a real honour! The Bicycling editors are independent journalists who have the opportunity to ride the best bikes in the world. This result is proof of the first-class quality and outstanding cycling performance of the FOCUS Izalco line.”
Over the space of a week, the Bicycling editors tested the finalists in Austin (Texas) before finally anonymously submitting their individual marks for the various assessment categories. Once all of the votes had been counted, it was determined that the FOCUS model was in the lead; the clear winner in the “Best Enthusiast Road Bike” category. What particularly impressed the testers was its acceleration, comfortable ride, balance and specifications.
As a special highlight for the newly nominated test winner, the black and white FOCUS Izalco Team Replica now graces the cover of the 50-year anniversary issue of the most widely read cycling magazine in the world, which was issued on 1 May. See www.bicycling.com for more information on the bike.
The FOCUS Izalco Team Replica – for that ultimate pro feeling. Developed for top pros, the frame is being used by the Team Jelly riders and the Vanderkitten FOCUS women’s cycling team in 2011. Pro Team Katusha is also opting for a frame from the Izalco series. The price/performance ratio of this racing bike will impress more than just magazine testers.
