Derby Cycle mourns a great loss

It was with great dismay and deep sorrow not only the management of Derby Cycle but also the employees of the Cloppenburg bicycle manufacturer reacted to the news of the accidental death of FOCUS XC team rider Annefleur Kalvenhaar on 23rd August at the World Cup in Meribel. The multiple Dutch mountain bike and cyclocross champion and winner of the U23 Cyclocross Championship of 2013 was a member of the FOCUS XC team, a professional team of the sportive brand FOCUS of Derby Cycle since the beginning of the year.

 

“It is very hard to even put this loss in words. Annefleur was one of the greatest talents in Dutch mountain bike and cyclocross where she won countless titles. We were therefore very happy to welcome Annefleur at the beginning of this year as a new member in the FOCUS XC team and were sure to celebrate further success with her in the team” said Thomas Raith, CEO of Derby Cycle Holding GmbH. “In deep mourning our thoughts are now especially with her family and the team,” said Raith.

 

The twenty-year old FOCUS XC rider Anne Fleur Kalvenhaar died after an hard accident at the World Cup race in Meribel on 23 August. The multiple Dutch mountain bike and cyclocross champion and winner of the U23 Cyclocross Championship of 2013 rode for our FOCUS XC team since the beginning of the year.

The death of Anne Fleur Kalvenhaar is a hard and irreplaceable loss. In deep sorrow our thoughts are especially with the family and the team.
